Where the heat actually goes
In a typical Barcelona flat with single glazing, the windows account for a large share of the heat that escapes in winter and most of the heat that arrives in summer. Replacing them changes the comfort of a room far more than any other single measure.
What to compare
- U-value — how much heat passes through the whole window. Lower is better; our 76 mm systems reach 0.8 W/m²K.
- g-value — how much solar heat the glass lets in. On a south or west facade a lower figure keeps summer rooms usable.
- Air tightness — a perfectly specified window still loses heat if the perimeter seal is poor.
